Field Aviation is pleased to announce the sale of two EFI-890R flight deck upgrades to an undisclosed U.S.-based customer for their De Havilland Dash 8 aircraft. This sale represents the first two upgrades in the operator’s fleet, one being on a De Havilland Dash 8 Series 200 aircraft and the second on a Series 300.

The timing of this sale aligns with the certification of FlightSafety International’s Dash 8 flight simulator at their Toronto, Canada facility, which has been recently upgraded with Field Aviation’s EFI-890R flight deck. This training device received Transport Canada certification on January 30, 2019 and is in the process of obtaining its FAA approval.

Field Aviation is also in the process of completing the last of a three aircraft EFI-890R flight deck and ADS-B Out upgrades on the Swedish Coast Guard Dash 8 aircraft fleet at Skavsta airport in Nyköping, Sweden.

“The obsolescence issues facing the classic Dash 8 airline and special mission operators is significant, and our EFI-890R Flight Deck upgrade not only solves this problem but provides pilots with consolidated flight guidance and significantly more situational awareness”, said Brian Love, Field Aviation’s Chief Commercial Officer. “At Field Aviation, we are committed to supporting the large fleet of Dash 8 aircraft across the globe with innovative solutions”.

The Field Aviation EFI-890R Flight Deck Modernization program is a state-of-the-art replacement of the legacy Dash 8 OEM electromechanical and electronic flight and engine instrumentation systems with five Universal Avionics (UA) EFI-890R flat-panel integrated smart displays. Four of these present the pilots with navigation and situational awareness, and the fifth (center unit) displays engine information. The system provides full redundancy by allowing information to be switched between the displays. The Field Aviation STC has been approved by Transport Canada, the FAA and EASA and maintains the Dash 8 common pilot type rating.

With over 70 years of experience creating unique technical solutions, Field Aviation is recognized as an industry leader in the design, manufacture, installation, flight test, and certification of modifications for commercial and special mission aircraft. Also recognized for its capabilities in avionics and interior upgrades, Field Aviation offers flight deck modernization, customized interior reconfigurations and refurbishments, and cargo conversions. Field Aviation is also a parts manufacturing and sub-assembly center of excellence for aircraft OEMs, and an avionics equipment dealer and authorized service center.
