Field Aviation has rebuilt aircraft on every continent of the world, a feat that wouldn’t be possible without the experience and knowledge of our in-house engineering group. Our structural, avionic and system engineers are part of the process at every stage - specifying, designing, assembling and flight testing... working meticulously from the initial preparation right through to the polished end.
Our engineering expertise encompasses 4 key areas:
Design
Our multi-disciplined engineering team will design all levels of aircraft modification from simple to complex installations, including multi system integrations and aircraft configuration changes. Concept & prototype design, detail design, and production drawings are produced using up-to-date CAD & Parametric Solid Modeling design software, which assists in design verification before installation starts. In addition to these capabilities, we also produce all technical and maintenance publications to support our modification designs.
Analysis
Our engineering analysis capabilities support our diverse project activities - ensuring that all components operate smoothly and perform as they should. Areas of analysis include:
- Classic Structural Stress Analysis
- Finite Element Analysis
- Damage Tolerance
- Aerodynamic Load Analysis
- Computational Fluid Dynamics Modeling
- Failure Modes and Effect Analysis
- Functional Analysis
- All required Certification Data Analysis
Putting our avionics integration capabilities to work, we also offer extensive electrical load and EMI/EMC analysis to make sure that all on-board systems operate as intended. In addition, we rely on Antenna Conflict Analysis to determine if an existing antenna needs to be relocated - effectively minimizing changes required at the flight test stage.
Ground and Flight Testing
Field Aviation can conduct ground and flight tests on many types of aircraft - large or small, piston, turboprop or jet-powered. Our capabilities span a wide range, including testing:
- Aerodynamics
- Avionics
- Rf Hazard
- Antenna Performance
- Airframe Performance
- Radar and Electro Optical Sensor Performance
- Interior Configuration Evaluations and Compliance
Certification
With our high level of delegated authority as a Transport Canada Design Approval Organization (DAO), we are able to deal with most certification issues in house, and can obtain TCCA, FAA or EASA certification for your projects- specifically in structures, damage tolerance, flight test, avionics and electrical systems.
Our excellent relationship and established history in working with Transport Canada, the FAA and EASA results in efficient communications, cooperation and project coordination with these groups. We ensure the applicable airworthiness authorities are informed and involved in our programs wherever necessary to help ensure the most efficient certification process achievable.
