Corporate History

FIELD AVIATION (FIELD) was founded in 1947 in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. It began by providing maintenance support to Kenting Aviation. Kenting performed mapping operations, aerial surveys and ice reconnaissance over Canada's vast territories in the post-war years. By the early 1950s, FIELD had operations in Calgary and Toronto.

Our Toronto operation, now located at Lester B. Pearson International Airport (CYYZ), continues to specialize in the conversion of all types of aircraft for special missions.

Calgary (CYYC) operations were established in 1952 with a staff of three. They provided maintenance support for aircraft used in the oil and gas industry. By 1977, Calgary operations had grown to over 180 staff. Today, Calgary employs over 300 staff members.

Our Toronto and Calgary facilities include over 250,000 square feet of hangar space and the same in hard surfaced ramp area. In 1999, the company's head office relocated from Toronto to Calgary.

Since The de Havilland Aircraft of Canada (DHC) built the first bush planes, the famous Beaver and Otter, FIELD has provided repair and overhaul services for a wide range of companies in Canada and around the world that operate de Havilland (now Bombardier Aerospace) aircraft.

Heavy maintenance, modifications and refurbishments are performed today primarily on the DASH 7, DASH 8 Q series and CRJ regional jets.

Since 1954, FIELD AVIATION SALES Ltd. has been the exclusive Canadian representative for Hawker Beechcraft Corporation representing the entire range of Beechcraft and Hawker products. As well, we sell and broker pre-owned aircraft of all makes and types including business, commercial and military aircraft and helicopters, throughout the world.

In 2007 FIELD celebrates 60 years of service to the worldwide aviation community.
